Washington, DC – Congressman John Joyce, M.D. (PA-13), spoke on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives to recognize National Emergency Medical Services Week and to thank the EMTs and paramedics across Pennsylvania’s 13th Congressional District.
“We in Congress owe it to our EMTs and the communities that they serve to ensure they have the tools and resources necessary to arrive quickly and treat their patients,” said Congressman Joyce. “This week, let’s remain grateful for the care and professionalism of our first responders.”
Across Pennsylvania, more than 1,200 EMS agencies respond to over 2.4 million emergency calls each year. Since coming to Congress, Dr. Joyce has advocated for grants and federal funding that support first responders including Assistance to Firefighter Grants that have returned over $4 million to 13th District emergency management agencies.
