SHIPPENSBURG — Shippensburg University men’s basketball standouts Carlos Carter (Indiana/Indiana) and Dom Sleva (McKees Rocks/Montour) were recently selected as All-Atlantic Region for this past season by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA).

Carter, a senior guard, was selected to the 2022-23 All-Atlantic Region Men’s Basketball First Team, while Sleva, a graduate forward, secured a spot on the 2022-23 All-Atlantic Region Second Team.

Shippensburg is the only team to have multiple players named to the All-Atlantic Region Team. A total of 10 players were named either to the First or Second Team.

Carter scored at incredible volume and efficiency for the Raiders this past season, finishing second in the conference in scoring at 18.4 points per game.

He shot 46.6 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from the three-point line in 30 games. He scored 20 or more points 14 times, including six consecutive games during February. He scored 30 or more points on three occasions, highlighted by a career-high 33 points in the Raiders’ 75-59 win over Slippery Rock Dec. 3.

His 36.3 minutes per game ranked second in the conference, and he finished in a multi-way tie for fifth in the PSAC with 2.1 three-pointers per game.

Carter was previously named the 2022-23 PSAC East Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Year and an All-PSAC East First Team Selection. He was named PSAC Eastern Division Athlete of the Week three times during this past season.

He finished his collegiate career with 1,339 points, which ranks him 15th in Raider history.

Sleva fashioned one of the top rebounding seasons in Raider history in 2022-23, pulling down a PSAC-leading 12 boards per contest. His 9.3 defensive rebounds per game not only led NCAA Division II but represented a new program record.

Offensively, he contributed 13.1 points per game and finished tied for the top spot in NCAA Division II in double-doubles with 16, despite missing the final three games of the regular season due to injury.

Sleva was recognized as the 2022-23 PSAC East Men’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Year, and joined Carter on the All-PSAC East First Team. He was a seven-time PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week honoree during the 2022-23 campaign.

His 961 career rebounds put him 4th all-time in program history, while his 1,176 career points rank 24th.

Together the duo led the Raiders to a 19-11 overall record, a PSAC Eastern Division Co-Championship and a PSAC Tournament semifinal berth this past season.
