A quartet of area teams found themselves one win away from a berth in the Capital Football Association (CFA) Youth Football League Super Bowl.
All four teams — three from Chambersburg and another from Waynesboro — went down in last weekend’s semifinal round.
The Waynesboro Stallions came in as underdogs in the Federal Conference Midget semifinals against West Perry after getting hammered by the Mustangs, 48-18, in the regular season. West Perry prevailed once again but had to work for it in a 16-8 victory over Waynesboro. The Stallions end their season at 8-3.
Two Chambersburg squads, the Ponies and Midgets, both saw their campaigns end with losses to Susquehanna in the National Conference semifinals. The Ponies (8-3) fell to Susquehanna by a 14-6 score, while the Midgets’ saw their fall season end at 8-3 following a 30-0 loss.
In the Liberty Conference, Chambersburg Blue’s Midget team wrapped at 7-4 following a 54-0 loss to Shamrocks Football.
In Maryland, the Washington County Junior Football League is scheduled to hold its championship games this weekend.
