After an 0-3 start to the season, Chambersburg Blue’s chances of qualifying for the Capital Football Association Youth Football League playoffs were looking bleak, at best.
The prospects didn’t seem much better when the squad was sitting at 1-4 two weeks later.
But Chambersburg found some traction at the midway point of the Liberty Conference campaign, and closed out its Pony season with four wins in a row. Red-hot Blue (5-4) advances to the playoffs — which kick off this weekend — as a No. 6 seed and will take on No. 3 Lower Dauphin.
Three more Chambersburg teams will be competing in win-or-go-home action this weekend. The Liberty Conference playoffs will also feature Chambersburg’s No. 5-seeded Midget team (6-3), while the top-tier National Conference postseason will include appearances from the Trojans’ Pony (7-2) and Midget (7-2) squads. Chambersburg’s National qualifiers combined for nearly 400 points in 18 games of regular-season play this fall.
The Waynesboro Stallions will be represented in the Federal Conference playoffs by their Midget team (7-2), a group that has outscored the competition 162-100.
Greencastle and Fairfield narrowly missed spots in the postseason.
