WAYNESBORO – Matt Clark of Maryland raced to victory Saturday at the 10th annual Strokes, Spokes & Strides Sprint Triathlon, held at the Waynesboro Area YMCA.
Clark, 36, crossed the finish line first with a clock time of 1 hour, 7 minutes, 29.6 seconds. His official chip time was 1:03:39.5, securing him the overall championship in the event’s milestone year.
Michelle Lane, 37, also of Maryland, led the women’s field. Lane finished with a clock time of 1:21:41.4 and a chip time of 1:20:23.3, earning her first place among female competitors.
The triathlon, sanctioned by USA Triathlon, drew athletes from across the region to compete in swimming, biking and running events. The race marked a decade of community fitness and competition at the Waynesboro Area YMCA.
