CHAMBERSBURG – Following a record-breaking season, the Wilson College men’s volleyball team set another record with postseason honors as six players earned spots on the 2025 United East All-Conference Teams. The Phoenix also received two major awards as first-year student Jackson Wolfe won Rookie of the Year and the conference named Aaron Hoke Coach of the Year.
First Team selections went to Wolfe and Jacob McCoy (Jr., York, Pa. / Spring Grove). Second Team picks include Demetrius Simmons (Jr., Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Mechanicsburg) and Satvik Sharma (FY, Hummelstown, Pa. / Hershey). Ryan Koontz (So., York Haven, Pa. / Red Land) and Camden Sterner (So., Spring Grove, Pa. / Spring Grove) were chosen to the Third Team.
Jackson Wolfe (FY, Abbottstown, Pa. / New Oxford) proved to be impressive no matter where he was in the rotation. He totaled a team-high 243 kills this year and hit .206 heading into last weekend’s conference championship, both of which ranked top 10 in the United East. Defensively he was a force for the opposition as he rejected 69 attacks, 11 of which were by himself. On the receiving end he picked up 154 digs. He was named Player of the Week four times this year with three defensive honors and one offensive selection.
McCoy joined Wolfe on the First Team after a sensational breakout season. He led the conference with a .336 hitting percentage and was also among the league leaders with 2.28 kills and 0.613 blocks per set. He totaled 217 kills on the season and reached double figures eight times in the process. McCoy also earned Player of the Week honors for his offensive abilities the week of March 24.
Simmons was a Second Team selection and led the United East with 85 blocks on the year. His .925 blocks per set ranks No. 29 nationally. Four times this year he scored a career-high seven blocks. He earned Defensive Player of the Week honors for the week of February 24.
Sharma was selected to the Second Team at setter. The court general was the catalyst behind the increased offensive production as he was second in the conference with 7.83 assists per game. He easily led the league in total assists with 752, 136 more than the next closest player.
Koontz earns a spot on the third team as another all-around attribute. He was one of the best servers in the conference with .409 aces per set and third on the team with 190 kills. He reached double figures eight times with a career-high 18 kills in the semifinal win over Cairn.
Sterner repeats as an all-conference selection after he was a Second Team selection in 2024. This season he upped his production with 2.94 digs per set, third-most in the conference. He totaled 282 digs on the year and now has 525 for his career.
At the helm, Aaron Hoke received his first Coach of the Year honors after guiding the Phoenix to their first winning season in program history. Hoke was named interim coach in January 2022, earning full head coach status in spring 2022. He is a 2019 graduate of Wilson and was a four-year starter for the men’s volleyball program. According to the United East announcement, “Hoke helped teach his squad how to play elite defense at the net as his team averaged a league-leading 2.25 blocks per set in conference play.”
The Blue and White finished 14-13 overall and overcame a 0-5 start to go 14-8 down the stretch which included a program-best 7-1 conference record. During that stretch, the Phoenix also went on a six-match winning streak for the longest in team history. It resulted in a No. 2 seed in the United East Championship where they advanced to the final after a semifinal victory at home over Cairn. UE statistics ranked the Phoenix second in conference-play hitting percentage (.237) and second in total service aces (56).
The United East Conference is home to 17 member institutions which compete at the highest level of NCAA Division III athletics with schools located in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and Washington D.C. The three United East All-Conference volleyball teams are made up of five attackers, one setter, one libero and two at-large bids.
