WAYNESBORO—The rain deflated balloons and forced a ribbon-cutting ceremony indoors, but it didn’t dampen the welcoming spirit of the Wildflower Marketplace.
The Cumberland Valley Business Alliance sponsored the grand reopening Thursday.
“What’s really neat is every week when you come in here, you’re never gonna see the same two things,” said Jordan Nace, CVBA membership director. “It gives a reason for people to keep coming in from week to week and check you out.”
The marketplace has been in business for years, but came under new ownership late last year when Linda and Brian Gayman purchased the barn, which offers more than 6,000 square feet of shopping space on three levels with nearly 50 vendors.
“We have some artisans, hand-crafted items, jewelry, mid-century modern, re-purposed items, furniture and vintage,” said Linda Gayman, Wildflower Marketplace owner. “It’s not a flea market.”
The rustic barn along with outdoor shed shops provides a cozy backdrop for shopping.
“I want that atmosphere of peace—calm and inviting, welcoming. People call it their ‘happy place’ and I want them to come in and shake off their day, have a cup of tea and browse,” Gayman explained.
Wildflower Marketplace is located at 11729 Anthony Highway. Hours are Thursdays, noon to 5 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Follow them on social media or call them at 240-310-4264.
