WellSpan Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary has awarded 11 Health Career Scholarships to high-school seniors from Waynesboro Area Senior High School and Greencastle-Antrim High School, including those attending Franklin County Career Technology Center.
The students were selected on the basis of educational intent, scholastic achievement, general character, school and community service activities and need for financial assistance. The Health Career scholarships will be split between the fall and spring semesters of their freshman year. The auxiliary has awarded $380,450 to 226 graduating seniors from Waynesboro Area and Greencastle-Antrim School Districts since 1973, including this year’s recipients.
Health Career scholarship recipients
Kadence G. Abbott (G-AHS), daughter of Scotty Abbott and Jade Brisko, will attend either Penn State University, Slippery Rock University or University of Pittsburgh as a student in the occupational therapy program. She will receive a $3,000 scholarship.
Olivia F. Beaver (G-AHS), daughter of Darrell and Lesli Beaver, will attend Houghton University in the physical therapy program, focusing on pediatrics. She will receive a $3,000 scholarship.
Sahana L. Bharath (G-AHS), daughter of Bharath Balu and Caitlin Bharath, will attend the University of Pittsburgh in the pre-med program, focusing on dermatology. She will receive a $2,000 scholarship.
Lydia E. Grapes (WASHS and FCCTC), granddaughter of Robin and Mary Stoops, will attend Hagerstown Community College in the nursing program, specifically pediatrics. She will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
Kinzee M. Hudson (G-AHS), daughter of Travis and Jessica Hudson, will attend University of North Carolina – Wilmington in the nursing program, with the goal of becoming a flight nurse. She will receive a $3,000 scholarship.
Allison E. McCallum (WASHS), daughter of Curt and Diane McCallum, will attend the University of Pittsburgh in the nursing program to become a nurse anesthetist. She will receive a $3,000 scholarship.
Rachel M. Moore (WASHS), daughter of Adam “Jake” and Jeanette Moore, will attend Wilkes University in the pharmacy program. She will receive a $3,000 scholarship.
Kinley N. Myers (G-AHS), daughter of Tyler and Whitley Myers, will attend Penn State University – Altoona campus in the anesthesiology program, with the goal of becoming a nurse anesthetist. She will receive a $3,000 scholarship.
Neha R. Patel (G-AHS), daughter of Rakesh and Jaimini Patel, will attend the University of Pittsburgh in the psychiatry program, focusing on child and adolescent psychiatry. She will receive a $3,000 scholarship.
Clementine E. Quesada (WASHS and FCCTC), daughter of Bernard and Lesley Quesada, will attend Penn State University in the nursing program, focusing on cardiac nursing. She will receive the $3,000 Barbara H. Rock Honorary Health Career Scholarship, named in honor of former WellSpan Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary president, Barbara H. Rock.
Alexis A. Swiney (WASHS), daughter of Michael and Kristy Swiney, will attend Belmont University in the psychiatry (mental health) program. She will receive a $3,000 scholarship.
Members of the scholarship committee are Jill Kessler, Sherry Newcomer, Alice Noll and Ruth Strausbaugh.
Applications for 2027 scholarships will be available in WASHS, G-AHS and FCCTC guidance offices, the hospital’s volunteer office, and on the schools websites in late 2026/early 2027.
