WAYNESBORO – The Waynesboro Volunteer Fire Department is inviting the public to the Virginia Avenue firehouse tonight for a celebration. Why?
The department has paid off its new ladder truck early, thanks to the help of the community, which helped with that. The event starts at 6 p.m., according to Lori Depies, treasurer of the department.
The debt is repaid 18 months early, which allows the department to begin specifying funds for a new piece of apparatus. Several area elected officials also will be present, Depies said.
