Summerdale, PA – On Wednesday Waynesboro High School students will compete with those from surrounding counties as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, South Central Pennsylvania Highway Safety, the Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association and other safety partners join together to host the annual Youth Safe Driving Competition at the CaAssociation (PMTA), and other safety partners to host the annual Youth Safe Driving Competition at the Capital Area Intermediate Unit (CAIU) in Summerdale.
Youth from school districts in Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, and Perry counties will compete against each other to see who is the “best of the best” as role models for safe driving. Students will be judged on their driving skills in a course set up by PMTA, their perceptual skills on a picture test to see what they notice outside of their vehicles, a pre-trip vehicle check for safety before driving, and a written test based on the Pennsylvania driver’s manual. Participating schools, besides Waynesboro, are Big Spring, Camp Hill, Carlisle, East Pennsboro, Lower Dauphin and West Perry.
