WAYNESBORO – Main Street will be closed from Walnut Street to Potomac Street from 5-8 p.m. for the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, Waynesboro police have announced.
There is no parking on Main Street after 2 p.m. If you need to reach the business district and to attend the Tree Lighting Ceremony, parking is available on nearby streets and adjacent lots, including Rotary Parking Lot just south of Main Street. Detour signs will be posted.
Officers urged motorists to please pay attention to traffic signs, lights and the volunteers who will be directing traffic.
The annual ceremony will feature sleigh rides, music, food, fun, freebies and the countdown to light the tree at 7 p.m.
On Saturday, Nov. 22, Main Street will be closed from Broad Street to Fairview Avenue from 1:30-4 p.m. for the 68th Holiday Parade. Nearly 80 units will be participating in the event, which starts at CV Avenue, heads east on Main Street and turns south on Broad Street before disembarking at Memorial Park.
Detour signs will be posted. Police urged motorists to pay attention to traffic signs, lights and the volunteers who will be directing traffic. No parking bags will be posted from Franklin to Broad Street. The parade will last approximately 90 minutes.
