WAYNESBORO – The Waynesboro Civil Service examination for police officers will be held at various times this summer. The pay is up to $68,931 to those having completed the state-administered training program, as well as $15,000 sign-on bonuses for completion of that training, called Act 120.
The physical fitness testing is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 2, with an optional practice physical fitness test will be held Saturday, July 12. The written examination for will be given on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025, at Borough Hall, 55 E. Main St. The oral portion of the examination will be announced.
Those interested may secure an application packet from the Borough Hall during regular business hours, Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or request via email at [email protected]. Completed applications must be returned to the Waynesboro Civil Service Commission, P.O. Box 310, Waynesboro, PA 17268, and received no later than Friday, July 25, at 5 p.m.
Completed applications (including all required attachments) may also be returned via email to the link listed above by the stated deadline. Veterans who qualify shall be given additional credits and preference.
Police applicants are not required to be Act 120 certified prior to taking the test; however, individuals with Act 120 certification or equivalent will be granted ten (10) points.
The Borough of Waynesboro will reimburse up to $1,000 in relocation expenses for successful applicants to establish residence.
