WAYNESBORO – The Waynesboro community gathered Monday, May 26, to honor fallen service members with a Memorial Day ceremony following the town’s annual parade.
The event, hosted by the American Legion, featured remarks from Cmdr. Tim Wolff, who welcomed attendees and reflected on the meaning of the day. Janeen McChesney, president of the Combined Veterans Council, also addressed the crowd, emphasizing the importance of remembrance.
Col. Jeremy Haugh, who served as both speaker and parade grand marshal, delivered a tribute to those who gave their lives in service. Col. Michael Ziegelhofer provided additional remarks, highlighting the sacrifices made by military families.
The American Legion Honor Guard presented a salute, and the Wayne Band performed military songs honoring each branch of the armed services. The ceremony concluded with a moment of silence, as community members paid their respects to the nation’s heroes.
