WAYNESBORO – Waynesboro Area Senior High School is set to stage its all-school production of “Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka” on March 14, 15, and 16.
The show will be performed Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m., with a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. Tickets are available online at our.show/washswillywonka or at the door, priced at $10 for adults and $5 for students and children.
Director Emily Dickey praised the dedication of the student cast. “The students are all very hard working and dedicated young adults,” Dickey said. “Many of them juggle their time in Wonka with other extracurricular activities and challenging course loads.”
The production features Robert Bond, a 10th grader, in the titular role of Willy Wonka, with 9th grader Ariabella Dimino as Charlie Bucket. The creative team includes Lexi Bowie as stage manager, Claire Martin as producer, Heather Cermack as musical director, and Stephanie Raios as choreographer.
Dickey noted that the production has added “many neat effects and additions to the classic Willy Wonka storyline” and expressed excitement about sharing their “chocolate world with the Waynesboro Community.”
The set was constructed by 11th grader Andrew Droneburg and his father, Jack, who volunteered countless hours. Laura Wilkinson leads the hair and makeup team, with 10 to 12 students volunteering as stage crew.
