Two days after placing third out of six teams in the third Mid-Penn Colonial Division varsity golf meet of the season, Waynesboro finished in last place for the second time in the fourth match.
A big reason was the absence of Landon Crable, who did not finish the second meet. Waynesboro finished Wednesday’s competition with a score of 376, a 44-stroke increase from Monday’s total of 332.
Gettysburg hosted Wednesday’s match and also won with a score of 317. The Warriors improved to 18-2, heading into the fifth match at Range End Golf Course in Dillsburg on Friday, Aug. 28.
Gettysburg’s Parker Tokar shot a minus-3 69 to top the field. Three others finished in the low and mid-80s to contribute to the low score of the day.
Greencastle finished second with a score of 323 and was led by Jex McDowell (79). McDowell tied for second place with two others. Teammate Camden Eby was fifth overall with 80, while Bryce Davidson and Landon Summers each shot 82 and tied for seventh.
By virtue of Greencastle’s 4-1 record, the Blue Devils now occupy third place in the standings. G-A is now 12-8.
Northern placed third with a score of 339 and is still in second place at 15-5. Shippensburg was fourth, followed by Chambersburg and Waynesboro.
Waynesboro’s Rylan Nichols carded an 86. Caiden Shacreaw and Abby Byers each finished with 91.
On Monday, Aug. 24 at Gettysburg National Golf Club, Shacreaw and Crable each shot 79 to tie for sixth overall. Nichols shot 86 and Byers 88 for Waynesboro’s best score of the season to date.
Gettysburg secured the team win with 326, five strokes ahead of runner-up Northern and six ahead of Waynesboro. Greencastle placed fourth followed by Shippensburg and Chambersburg.
Gettysburg’s Tokar was also the medalist at Gettysburg National with a 75. Greencastle’s Ryan Cunningham was second with 76, while Eby was in a three-way tie for fourth with 78.
