WAYNESBORO – More than 250 people braved the chill for a heartwarming holiday kickoff Saturday, joining the Waynesboro Volunteer Fire Department for an all-you-can-eat breakfast starring the Grinch and Santa Claus.
The event, held from 7 to 11 a.m. at the Rouzerville Ruritan Building on Old Route 16, drew families eager for seasonal cheer. Sponsored by Green Arbor Landscape LLC, the spread included scrambled eggs, toast, bacon, sausage, fried potatoes, pancakes, chocolate milk, regular milk, orange juice and coffee.
Children lit up the room with wide-eyed wonder, posing for photos alongside the mischievous Grinch and jolly Santa. Those 10 and under scored a free gift, plus a shot at winning a bicycle for Christmas in a special raffle.
Fire department officials hailed the turnout as a success, fostering community spirit ahead of the holidays. Attendees savored the feast while soaking in the festive vibes, from green-furred antics to red-suited ho-ho-hos.
The gathering underscored the fire department’s tradition of blending service with seasonal fun, ensuring Waynesboro’s youngest residents started the yuletide season on a high note.
