HAGERSGTOWN – The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts has published the following schedule of upcoming events and activities:
EXHIBITIONS:
Through April 6 – Recent Acquisitions. A collection of about 90 pieces from various artists and an array of paintings, sculptures, and other artworks from the 17th century till now.
Through May 11 – The Sincerest Form Master Art Copyists. Features the work of regional artists known as “master copyists” by the National Gallery of Art. This project is sponsored by Raymond James, Inc.
Through July 27 – Cumberland Valley Photographers Exhibition. This 1930s annual tradition showcases and celebrates artists based in the Cumberland Valley Region. Christopher Gianunzio, this year’s juror, is an independent curator based in Red Hook, New York and the former Exhibitions and Programming Director for the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center.
Tuesday, June 10-Friday to June 13, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.: The Amazing Tablescapes fundraiser this year celebrates the major exhibition, Frida Kahlo Picturing an Icon. The tables will feature items inspired by Kahlo’s life, art and her world.
Wednesday, June 11, noon to 1 p.m.: Art Social Hour with Director of Education Kellie Marz Mele, A Quick History of Tablescapes: How We Got Here: An engaging hour of exploring the evolution of tablescapes, just in time for the Tablescape Fundraising Gala on June 13 (free and open to museum members only).
Preview Gala- Friday, June 13, 5 -8 p.m.: A first-time event that combines the premier of Frida Kahlo: Picturing an Icon with the museum’s annual Amazing Tablescapes fundraiser.
CAMPS:
Art Camp: Frida Kahlo: Picturing and Icon June 16 to 20, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.. $250 per child. All art supplies included, campers must provide their lunch.
Adaptive Arts camp: June 24 to 26, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., free

Thursday, April 3, 5:30- 7 p.m.: Concert with Pianist Thomas Pandolfi. ($20 for members/$25 for non-members)
Wednesday, April 9, noon to 1 p.m.: Art Social Hour with Director of Education Kellie Marz Mele. A Social Hour for Art Enthusiasts. Get a glimpse into the creativity and thought behind developing an engaging art lesson! (Free, open to museum members only).
April 12 & 19, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.: Workshop: Charcoal Portraits with Gold Leaf. These two workshops will be held with artist Nicole Troup. A photo reference and material list will be provided to students after they register for the workshop. ($140 members/$160 public; materials not included).
Saturday, April 19, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.: Let’s talk art with Executive Director Sarah J. Hall. This discussion explores the role of copying in fine arts and takes a closer look at the masterpieces recreated by Master Art Copyists. (Free)
Friday, April 25, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Art in Bloom Preview Party. Enjoy regionally designed fresh floral arrangements inspired by our collection and enjoy floral-themed refreshments. ($50 per person)

Saturday, April 26. Floral Demonstration 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. ($5 members/$10 non-members)
Family Flower Frenzy, 3 pm to 4:30 pm. An Afternoon filled with creative challenges and games that are perfect for families who want to engage with art in a new and playful way! ($5 for members/$7 for non-members)
Flower Power Cocktail Hour, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Enjoy an evening of elegant botanicals and guided tasting of floral and herb-infused artisanal gin. ($35 per person ages 21+)
Sunday, April 27, Art in Bloom final day!
Flow & Bloom: Yoga in the Atrium, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Find your flow in this calming yoga session inspired by Art in Bloom and cool down with a refreshing cup of hibiscus tea afterwards ($25 per member. $30 per non-member)

May 11, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Sincerest Form: Master Ary Copyists Panel Discussion and closing reception. (free)
Wednesday, May 14, noon to 1 p.m. In this monthly conversation with museum members, Sarah J. Hall guests to take a close look at Grace Hartigan’s (American 1922-2008) Hake and share insights. (Free. Open to museum members only.)
May 15 and May 29, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Reactive Lounge: Art & Chill at the Museum. Unwind and let your creativity flow at Creative Lounge, a relaxed art-making experience at the museum. ($15 for members/$20 for non members, all materials provided)
June–
Sunday, June 8, 2 to 4 p.m. Juneteenth Author Showcase. Come and celebrate Black authors from Maryland’s Allegany, Frederick, Garrett, Montgomery and Washington counties.
This afternoon is designed to reflect on the progress that has been made since a time when reading and writing were punishable acts for enslaved Africans. (Free and open to the public)
WASHINGTON COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS ANNUAL ART EXHIBITION:
Elementary, April 12 to 20
Secondary, April 26 to May 4
This exhibition features the work of K-12 students organized by the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in collaboration with Washington County Public Schools. This exhibition is sponsored by Volvo Mack Truck, the Washington County Arts Council and Kevin Murray, M.D.
June 14 to October 5. This collection of Frida Kahlo’s personal photographs gives rare insight into her personal life. These photographs document the people, times, places and circumstances that informed and influenced her art and social activism. This exhibition is organized by Vicente Wolf. Associates from Vicente Wolf’s collection. Major funding has been provided by Nora & Bruce Wilder and the Visit Hagerstown & Washington County Convention & Visitors Bureau.
