WASHINGTON COUNTY, Md. – Officials of Washington County government invite the public to attend a sign dedication ceremony on Monday, July 28, at 1 p.m. at the Sideling Hill Overlook and Picnic Area, located at 2521 National Pike in Hancock, Maryland.
Once closed to the public, the Sideling Hill Scenic Overlook has recently undergone significant renovations and is now officially reopened to welcome visitors. The site offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Western Maryland landscape. With upgraded picnic facilities, the overlook invites travelers and locals alike to experience one of Maryland’s most scenic roadside vistas.
This newly installed sign was developed through a collaboration between Washington County government and Washington County Public Schools, specifically Boonsboro High School’s carpentry and architectural design program. The project was led by teacher Chris Young and highlights the incredible talent of sophomore Aiden Gregg, who brought the sign to life using digital design and CNC programming.
In addition to showcasing student innovation, the county also partnered with SignHere, a local Washington County business, to produce the custom George Washington logos featured on the sign.
Washington County extends its heartfelt thanks to WCPS, Boonsboro High School, Aiden Gregg, and SignHere for their collaboration and support. This project reflects the County’s ongoing commitment to enriching public spaces through community engagement and education.
