HAGERSTOWN – The Washington County Board of County Commissioners will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 21, to discuss community recognitions, infrastructure projects, technology upgrades, and legislative initiatives.
The session opens with proclamations for Dental Hygiene Month, Meritus Health’s 120th anniversary, Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Manufacturing Month. The Washington County Community Coalition will recap its 2025 efforts and request support for 2026 initiatives.
Infrastructure discussions include approving design and bidding proposals for three capital improvement projects at Hagerstown Regional Airport and a memorandum of understanding with the Town of Keedysville to apply county historic property tax credits.
Technology investments feature bid awards and sole-source procurements for Rubrik enterprise data protection, NVIDIA VPC license renewal and an ESRI cloud model for geographic information software.
The board will also correct a prior sole-source procurement for mental health case management services.The agenda includes adopting an opioid restitution ordinance and discussing the Community Reinvestment and Repair Fund.
A presentation on agriculture and the appointment of a building plan examiner are also scheduled. The board will consider an appointment to the Hagerstown Regional Airport Advisory Commission and discuss potential legislative items.
A closed session at 10:45 a.m. will cover personnel matters, including appointments to the Planning Commission and Washington County Mental Health Authority, hiring recommendations and employee discipline, as well as legal advice on lease negotiations and county-involved legal matters.
The board will reconvene in open session at 12:15 p.m. before recessing. An evening meeting with the Town of Clear Spring will follow at 6 p.m., featuring reports from town leaders and commissioners, concluding by 7 p.m.
