The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has announced that Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania is scheduled to begin work on Route 75 (Fort Loudon Road) in Montgomery Township and Mercersburg Borough, Franklin County.
Weather permitting, gas line work is expected to begin Monday, Jan. 5, and continue through April 2026 from Route 16 in Mercersburg to Shimpstown Road in Montgomery Township.
The road will be closed during daylight hours but will reopen at the end of the work day. A detour will be in place during work hours using Route 995 (Welsh Run Road), Route 416 (Mercersburg Road) and Route 16 (Buchanan Trail). School buses and emergency vehicles will be permitted to travel through the closure.
This work is being performed prior to and separate from with a 4.14-mile resurfacing project on Route 75 from Route 995 (Welsh Run Road) in Montgomery Township to Route 16 (Buchanan Trail) in Mercersburg Borough.
This project will begin after the gas company work is complete. An updated press release will be issued prior to the start of the project.
