HAGERSTOWN – Students from the Upward Bound program at Hagerstown Community College recently lent their time and energy to help the United Way of Washington County, Maryland.
Led by Academic Advisor Alex Goveo, the students represented high schools across Washington County. Their volunteer efforts counted toward required student service learning hours.
Upward Bound’s mission is to support first-generation, college-bound students by preparing them academically and socially for higher education success.
The group joined other volunteers at United Way’s annual gift-wrapping station in Valley Mall, which remains open daily through Christmas Eve. The station is located near FYE and JD Sports, just up from Dairy Queen in the food court.
