UPMC Experts Educate Community on Heart Health During American Heart Month

HARRISBURG — UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute in Central Pa. is hosting community events throughout February to provide central Pa. residents up-to-date information to keep their hearts healthy. The free events will cover topics and conditions, ranging from maintaining a hearty healthy diet to tips for preventing vascular disease.

“Good heart health starts with conversations about how to reduce your cardiovascular risks,” said Hemal Gada, M.D., president, UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute in Central Pa. “We’re pleased to be able to come out to the community to deliver this important information and raise awareness about preventing heart and vascular disease.”

In addition to information on heart-healthy living, participants will learn more about heart and vascular care available through UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute in Central Pa.

  • Preventing Vascular Disease: Tips for a Healthy Circulatory System

In 2023, UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute in Central Pa. achieved the distinguished three-star rating, the highest rating possible, from The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) in four out of five total categories for patient care and outcomes. The team also performed more than 400 transcatheter aortic valve replacements in 2023, making them the first heart program in Pennsylvania to reach this clinical milestone.
