HAGERSTOWN – Over the weekend, downtown Hagerstown held the first annual Battle of the Burgers! With competitive contestants from the area, dozens gathered on Potomac Street to declare the best burger in town.
On Saturday afternoon, Bella’s Bites, Brick House Tavern, C$C House of Burgers, Grab Smash & Go, Leiter’s Fine Catering, Baile’s Bagels and Brews, The Dugout and Veva’s on Potomac prepared delicious burgers for this competition. Burgers were not only voted on by judges, but for $20 at the door, guests were able to sample each burger and cast their vote for People’s Choice.

For the blind taste competition, a panel of Hagerstown personalities and public figures ate burgers from each restaurant and then casted their votes for which burger they believed was the best. Judges included Mayor William McIntyre, local personality Ryan Smetzer, Jamie Lawrence of One Room Media and Jordan Nicewarner, a frequent commentator for Hagerstown Boxcars games. After deliberating, Baile’s Bagels and Brews came out in first place.

Later in the day, the People’s Choice winner was announced. The winner of this portion of the competition happens to be a restaurant opening on Oct. 3 in downtown Hagerstown, Brickhouse Tavern.
