Tax Code Topic of Town Hall

MONT ALTO – Pennsylvania’s existing tax code and potential changes to property, sales and income taxes will be discussed at a town hall hosted by Reps. Paul Schemel (R-Franklin) and Frank Ryan (R-Lebanon) on Wednesday, July 20.

The 7 p.m. town hall will be held in the auditorium of the General Studies Building on Penn State Mont Alto’s campus.

Schemel asked Ryan to share his expertise from years working as a certified public accountant. Ryan, a retired Marine Reserve colonel, specializes in corporate restructuring and authored the book “Revolutionizing Accounting for Decision Making.”

“I’ve gotten to know Frank not only through the House, but also through his work as vice chairman of the Pennsylvania Public School Employees’ Retirement System more commonly called PSERS. He is very knowledgeable about fiscal matters and shares that knowledge in a very thoughtful manner,” Schemel said.

“I graduated from Mount St. Mary’s University College, so I am quite familiar with southern Franklin County. I welcomed the invitation from Paul to speak at his town hall. I’m hoping we can have a robust discussion about the tax structure in Pennsylvania,” Ryan said.

Those entering the Penn State Mont Alto campus should follow the main, one-way drive to the back side of the campus. Parking is available behind the General Studies Building.

Anyone with questions about the town hall can call Schemel’s office at 717-749-7384.
