WAYNESBORO—An incident in the Borough of Waynesboro Sunday evening drew more than a half dozen emergency responder groups to a residence on Harrison Avenue.
According to Waynesboro Police Department, officers were called to a residence around 4 p.m. July 17, for a report of a home invasion and stabbing.
According to the report, one or two masked individuals forced their way into the home.
One resident was transported to Meritus where they were treated and released for 13 stab wounds.
A second resident was treated and released for a leg injury at the Waynesboro Hospital emergency room.
According to WPD Chief James Sourbier, it was reported that one assailant potentially remained within the residence, so officers established a perimeter and a tactical team from the Pennsylvania State Police was called in to assist in a search for the assailant.
WPD officers were assisted by officers from PSP, Washington Twp PD, Waynesboro VFD and fire police, the forensic support unit from the Franklin County Coroner’s office, Medic 2, the Waynesboro ambulance company and the mobile command unit from the Franklin County Department of Emergency Services.
Officers cleared the home, with no assailant located and Sourbier said a preliminary investigation indicated no continued threat to the community.
