Baby steps.
In many cases, that’s what’s needed to start heading into the right direction.
Slow, steady movement with some conviction on the side.
But no one ever said it could have a little kick to it.
That’s where the South Hagerstown soccer program is standing. The Rebels are taking itty, bitty steps while looking big results.
Tuesday’s steps represented a huge leap for both South’s girls and boys.
For South’s girls team, it came in a 12-3 loss to Catoctin. In this case, the score was just incidental.
That’s because Khloe Terrelonge, a freshman, scored all three goals – better known as a hat trick – for the Rebels in the loss.
That was big, especially considering that the South girls were held scoreless in the previous 19 games they have played. According to County Sports Zone.com, the Rebels’ last reported goal was scored on Sept. 12, 2023, in a 4-1 loss to Southern Garrett.
On the boys’ side, the news was just a dramatic.
The Rebels posted a 4-3 victory over Catoctin
It was the first win in 17 games, dating back to a 3-1 victory over Smithsburg on Oct. 17, 2023.
South was 0-11-4 last season.
