Do not ask me how this happened, but this year is our 25th anniversary for our Dog Walk and Contests. Where does the time go? Additionally, how old am I? Don’t answer that.
The event will be held at the Shippensburg Fairgrounds on Oct. 4.
We’re bumping the festivities one hour later, so registration for the walk will begin at 10 a.m. with the walk kicking off at 11.
Participants are asked to get sponsors for their walk so we can raise money for the animals in our kennels.
Anyone who walks will get a prize bag. People who donate $25 will get a t-shirt. Anyone who gives $75 or more will get a walk down the prize tables.
And those tables are insane.
Every year the people who attend absolutely cannot believe the prizes that are available for participants who raise $75 or more. So get out there and get those sponsors now so you can get a chance at some amazing stuff.
The top donor will get the first choice of prizes and we call names on down the line.
Our dog walk coordinator, Robin, works throughout the year to get really incredible items for the prize area. Believe me, you do not want to miss this.
Our dog walk has been increasing in totals and I know Robin loves when we make a lot of money for the shelter. The donations will go toward caring for the animals in our kennels right now, so it’s quite a poignant fundraiser for us.
Facebook fundraisers are also welcome as a way to increase your donations and get a shot at some of the top prizes. If you have a dog walk fundraiser on your Facebook page, just take a screen shot of what you raise and we will add it to your total. It’s a great way to help the shelter.
We also have a PayPal link on our website to donate there as well.
We’re hoping for good weather, so if you have an in with Mother Nature, please make the call.
We’ll have our prize wheel going, too, for those who like to pretend they’re on a gameshow and take a spin.
Following the walk, we will hold our canine contests where we’re looking for the best kisser, best trick, best costume and most obedient. I always have a tough time finding judges for these contests because it’s so difficult to choose a winner. People come up with some amazing costumes and the tricks and abilities of the pooches are unreal.
There are even some great prizes for the winners in our contests, too. I’m telling you, Robin goes all out for this. You have to see it.
This is our 25th anniversary, so it’s going to be a big one. Make sure you mark your calendars so you don’t miss it!
Each year we look to make our dog walk bigger and better than the last and you can help us do that. All the forms and information can be found online at cvas-pets.org or you can always give me a call at (717) 263-5791 with any questions.
Everyone who takes part in our dog walk is always really impressed. Trust me, you want to be at the Shippensburg Fairgrounds on October 4, so you can see how amazing this is going to be!
