LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – He’s gone but definitely not forgotten.
Tyson Bagent, Shepherd University’s former all-everything quarterback, has been named as one of the all-time greatest athletes in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference history.
The PSAC celebrates its 75th season in 2025-26 athletic year as the league office by announcing the list of the 75 Greatest Male Athletes in league history.
From 2018-22, Bagent was the face of the Shepherd football program as he set virtually every of Shepherd’s passing records along with setting 17 NCAA Division II national marks.
Bagent won the Harlon Hill Award – Division II football’s version of the Heisman Trophy – after his stellar junior season. He led the Rams to the Division II national semifinals before losing to Ferris State. He added to his lore by throwing last-minute touchdowns to pull out wins in two of Shepherd’s playoff games.
He led the Rams back to the national semifinals in 2022.
He earned 44 national first-place votes for the Hill Award by passing for 5,000 yards and 53 touchdowns, becoming the fourth quarterback to accomplish the feat. Bagent was also a two-time All-American and was also named player of the year by a number of national publications.
Bagent was named the PSAC East Offensive player of the year and the Hardman Award signifying as West Virginia’s top athlete for 2021.
He finished his Shepherd career with school and national records for completions (1,400), passing yards (17,034) – both Division II marks. He also added NCAA records for passing touchdowns (159).
Bagent became the first Shepherd player to participate in the Senior Bowl and attended the NFL Draft Combine.
Bagent went undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft, but signed as a free agent with the Chicago Bears as a reserve quarterback. He made four NFL starts in his rookie year when starting QB Justin Fields was sidelined by injuries.
Bagent recently signed a $10 million extension before the start of his third season with Chicago.

South’s Harris ties tackling record
Tavon Harris had a game for the ages on Sept. 12 for South Hagerstown.
According to South statistics, Harris was credited with 25 tackles in the Rebels’ loss to Francis Scott Key.
According to Washington County Football website, the 25 tackles tie the mark set by South’s Brayden Sisk last season, which was also against FSK.
Harris finished the game with seven solo and 18 assists, while also forcing a fumble.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Shepherd Blanks No. 17 Kutztown
KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Shepherd University scored a goal in each half on Wednesday and made them stand up for a 2-0 victory over Kutztown.
Kutztown (4-1-0, 2-1-0 PSAC East) entered the game as No. 17 in the NCAA Division II rankings.
Midfielder Josie Beezel gave Shepherd a 1-0 by scoring off an assist by Merritt Delk at the 38:02 mark of the first half.
Shepherd (2-0, 2-0 PSAC East) doubled the lead at 63:43 when Reagan Ackermann scored off a pass from Annabelle Wunderlich.
Goalkeeper Hannah Wilt made one save in the shutout. The Rams had an 11-7 edge in shots resulting in a 5-2 advantage for shots on goal.
