CALIFORNIA, Pa. – Shepherd University got bounced out of the Pennsylvania State Athetic Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament on Wednesday, wasting a game-high 32-point performance by guard Marcus Banks in an 81-56 loss to California in the quarterfinals.
Shepherd (20-10) finishes the season with a 20-10 record.
Banks posted a career high using hit 9-of-18 field goals, including a pair of 3-pointers, while adding three rebounds and two assists.
The Vulcans opened the game on a 19-9 run and never trailed. Cal held a 50-35 lead at halftime.
Forward Favor Okigweh added four points, a pair of blocked shots, and a game-high 14 rebounds for the Rams. Guard Colby White added seven points.
Jordan Buchanan added 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Vulcans.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE
Frostburg State 17, Shepherd 7
FROSTBURG, Md. – Neila Haney scored seven goals and added three assists to lead Frostburg State over Shepherd on Wednesday.
Midfielder Grace Lyon scored three goals to lead the Rams (1-3). Lyon added eight draw controls and four ground balls.
Attacker Holly Poe, midfielder Aubrey Harrison, midfielder Katherine Stevenson and midfielder Britney Warner each scored.
Frostburg State had a 6-1 lead at the end of the first quarter and took a 9-3 lead into halftime. Haney had four first-half goals for the Bobcats.

Pullen wins PSAC East weekly honor
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Shepherd University outfielder Bodie Pullen was been named PSAC East Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.
Pullen batted .545 (6-for-11) to lead the Rams to a 3-0 week. He scored eight runs and drove in three. Pullen added a pair of doubles and six stolen bases while slugging .727 and totaling a .667 on-base percentage for the week.
