Scoop-a-Palooza returns to Chambersburg with family fun

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — The 17th annual Scoop-a-Palooza Ice Cream Festival, presented by ACNB Bank, returns on Saturday, July 11, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Chambersburg Area Senior High School cafeteria.

This family-friendly event features unlimited ice cream sampling from regional favorites, children’s activities, entertainment and the chance to vote for your favorite frozen treats, all while supporting educational and leadership programs in Franklin County.

Attendees can enjoy ice cream from area vendors and vote for their favorite flavors. Participating vendors include Leota’s, Meadows Frozen Custard, Rita’s, South Mountain Creamery, Penn State Creamery Ice Cream and Johnnies Restaurant Supply, which will provide Hershey’s Ice Cream.

Kids won’t want to miss the ACNB Bank “Scoop Scientists” Kitchen, where children ages 10 and under can make their own ice cream during hands-on sessions at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Additional attractions include Maggie the Clown, face painting, the Franklin County Library System Bookmobile, family-friendly vendors, and a Kids Activity area.

The popular Human Sundae Event returns at 1 p.m., when lucky attendees will be selected to transform ACNB Bank’s Duane Bock into a giant human sundae.

Advance tickets are available at discounted prices through July 9 and are strongly encouraged. Adult tickets are $7, children’s tickets (ages 2-12) are $4, and children under 2 are free. Ticket prices increase on event day.

“With great ice cream, family fun, and a great cause, Scoop-a-Palooza is a favorite summer tradition,” said Virginia Harriger, executive director of the Greater Chambersburg Chamber Foundation. “We encourage everyone to purchase tickets early and join us for a sweet day supporting educational programming in our community.”

Proceeds benefit the Greater Chambersburg Chamber Foundation and its workforce development, educational partnership, and leadership programs.
