WAYNESBORO, Pa. — A Blue Ridge Summit man faces multiple misdemeanor charges following an alleged road rage incident that began in Washington Township and continued into Waynesboro Borough on Sunday afternoon.
Michael Todd King was charged with terroristic threats, reckless endangerment and simple assault. He was later released on $50,000 unsecured bail.
According to the Waynesboro Police Department, officers were dispatched just before 5:45 p.m. June 7 for a reported road rage incident involving a firearm. The situation was reported as inactive when police arrived.
Police said the incident originated in the Beartown area before moving into the borough, where the primary offense reportedly occurred. Officers obtained a description of the suspect and located King at a nearby restaurant.
During the investigation, police said King was found carrying two handguns, multiple ammunition magazines and several knives. Authorities noted that King declined to provide a detailed statement and requested legal counsel.
The alleged victim told police he was operating a motorcycle when King allegedly passed him illegally, cut him off and brake-checked him outside the borough. The victim reported that after both vehicles entered Waynesboro, King allegedly displayed a firearm and made a threat.
Police said the motorcyclist left the scene, photographed the vehicle’s license plate and contacted authorities.
A witness described the situation as a “bad road rage” incident, stating the motorcyclist may have entered traffic sooner than King preferred. The witness reported that after the two exchanged hand gestures, King allegedly drew a firearm and pointed it at the motorcyclist while both were stopped at a red light.
According to police, the witness also stated the motorcyclist approached King’s vehicle before the firearm was displayed. The witness could not confirm whether any verbal threat was made.
King remains free on unsecured bail.
