S. Hagerstown senior signs with Lebanon Valley College, H.S. & college scores

Logan Hammond’s next snap will be on a college football field. 

The South Hagerstown senior signed his letter of intent to play at Lebanon Valley College, a NCAA Division III school in Annville, Pa., on Wednesday. 

The 6-foot-4, 205-pound Hammond anchored the Rebels offensive line at center and played defensive end.

BOYS LACROSSE 

South Hagerstown 15, Tuscarora 0 

South Hagerstown’s defense smother Tuscarora in a shutout win to open its Central Maryland Conference season. 

The Rebels (4-1, 1-0) used the combined efforts of goalkeepers Israel Andino Guardado and Xander Ray to keep the Titans out of the net and off the scoreboad.  

HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL 

Middletown 14, South Hagerstown 4

HAGERSTOWN, Md. – Middletown rallied for nine runs in the final four innings to blow open a one-run game on Thursday to overcome South Hagerstown. 

Baylee Hancock led the Rebels (0-2) with a two-run double in the three-run third inning. Pitcher Raelee Fry also drove in a run. 

WOMEN’S LACROSSE 

Shepherd 19, Shippensburg 15 

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Midfielder Grace Lyon had six goals and an assist for openers on a record-setting day as Shepherd University turned back Shippensburg on Saturday. 

Lyon also set a school single-game record by winning 20 draws, breaking the mark of 18 by Lillian Funke vs. Ursuline in 2018. 

Attacker Hadley Robertson added five goals for the Rams (2-6, 1-3 PSAC East), while attackers Grace Meyer had two goals and an assist and Rebekah Forney netted a pair of goals. 

Lexi Koz and Maddie Phommachanh each had five goals, and Shannon Wood added four goals and an assist for the Raiders. Brynn Hauck contributed one goal and three assists. 

Freshman netminder Bailey Terry recorded a career-high 14 saves for the Rams.
