WAYNESBORO — Locals flocked to Main Street Park on Saturday for the third annual Rough Edges Homebrew Competition, sampling free tastings from six talented area brewers. The afternoon event, held from 2 to 5 p.m., featured live music by Brad Munn and food from FAT Russ’ BBQ food truck, while the beer van sold a variety of brews.
Rough Edges representatives sampled 14 beers from the contestants in a brisk, three-hour tasting session Friday, eventually narrowing the field to three finalists. Saturday’s attendees voted for their favorite, casting ballots to determine the winner.
Jason Gahen took home the top honor for his International Pale Lager, earning the grand prize of having his beer brewed professionally at Rough Edges Brewing. The winner was announced at 4:30 p.m., capping a lively afternoon of music, food, and community. The event was not BJCP sanctioned but drew a strong turnout from local beer enthusiasts.
