CHAMBERSBURG – The Rotary Club of Chambersburg will present its third annual Flags for Heroes event, a moving community tradition that honors the individuals who inspire us, protect us and make a lasting difference in our lives.
From Sunday, Nov. 9, through Sunday, Nov. 16, the front lawn of Seller’s Funeral Home (297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg) will be transformed into a breathtaking sea of red, white and blue. More than 400 full-sized American flags will stand tall, each dedicated to a personal hero – whether a military service member, veteran, first responder, healthcare worker, teacher, mentor, family member or friend.
The opening ceremony will be held on Veteran’s Day, Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Seller’s. The program will feature students from the Chambersburg Area Senior High School JROTC, adding a meaningful tribute to the occasion.
“Flags for Heroes is a striking and emotional tribute that allows our community to come together in gratitude and reflection,” said Jackie Fisher, president of the Rotary Club of Chambersburg. “Every flag tells a story, and every story reminds us of the power of service, sacrifice and love.”
Community members and businesses are invited to sponsor a flag in honor of their hero. Each sponsorship includes a commemorative medallion inscribed with the hero’s name. Medallions will be displayed alongside the flags during the week and later given to sponsors as keepsakes. Proceeds benefit Rotary’s local service projects and charitable initiatives throughout Franklin County and beyond.
The sponsorship deadline is Oct. 31.
