CHAMBERSBURG – The Institute of Retired Persons is gearing up for its spring 2025 semester, starting Monday, March 10. Whether you prefer to join these interactive sessions in person or tune in from home, there is a diverse lineup of expert-led lectures covering topics like history, science and personal stories.
“If you are attending via Zoom, there is no need to enroll in the sessions; all you need to do is check the IRP Weekly Bulletin, where Links to the Zoom lectures will be sent by email each week,” said John Ricca, IRP information coordinator. If you are joining in person, you may enroll ahead of time.
Mondays and Wednesdays will have one Zoom lecture, while Tuesdays and Thursdays will have two in-person lectures at the Menno Haven Life Center, 300 Ridgeview.
This semester’s lectures will cover a wide range of topics, including:
Maryland Women in the Civil War – Robert Schoeberlin, Ph.D., 9 a.m. Monday, March 10, Zoom

“Menno Haven residents may attend any IRP lecture without enrolling,” Ricca confirmed, emphasizing the accessibility of the program.
For those who plan to attend in person, you can enroll for either the Spring 2025 semester or both 2025 semesters, to “save time and postage costs,” said Ricca. To enroll, simply mail your completed form and check to IRP as soon as possible. Ricca urged participants to do this early, noting, “This will help our unpaid volunteers with administrative processing.” If mailing isn’t an option, you can also bring the completed form and check to the first in-person lecture that you attend.
