Reichard Wins Republican Nomination for 89th District State House Seat

In the recent Republican primary election for the 89th District state House seat, Chad C. Reichard emerged victorious over his opponent Janon R. “Jay” Gray. Reichard secured 4,838 votes compared to Gray’s 2,646, securing the Republican nomination.

With no Democratic candidate running for the seat, Reichard is poised to win the November general election. He will be replacing outgoing Representative Paul Schemel, who decided not to seek a sixth term representing the district.

Reichard, age 42, is an experienced political figure, having previously served as a legislative director in the Pennsylvania Senate and a legislative representative in the U.S. House of Representatives. He currently works as the planning and zoning officer for Washington Township, where he also previously served as a township supervisor. The 89th District encompasses several municipalities in southern Franklin County, including the boroughs of Waynesboro, Greencastle, Mercersburg, and Mont Alto, as well as the townships of Washington, Quincy, Antrim, Peters, Montgomery, and Warren.
