QUINCY TOWNSHIP – Quincy Township will hold its regularly scheduled board of supervisors meeting on Monday, July 7, at 6:30 pm. The township holds these supervisor meetings on the first Monday of every month at its offices, located at 7575 Mentzer Gap Road in Waynesboro.
The agenda appears fairly routine, but, as usual, includes a time for comments from the public at the start of the meeting.
Quincy Township is located in southeastern Franklin County and had 5,300 residents at the last census count. Named for sixth President John Quincy Adams, the township has a rich history of achievements in Pennsylvania, including the establishment of the first forestry school and TB treatment center. In 45 square miles of territory, Quincy Township also has the oldest water system in Franklin County, which began at the Tomstown Pump.
Quincy Township is home to several unincorporated communities, including Quincy, South Mountain, Old Forge, Five Forks and Tomstown. The township has three elected supervisors: Nelson Egolf, Alan Peck and Ed Wilson. The Borough of Mont Alto is surrounded by the northern part of Quincy Township but is a separate municipality.
After initial public comments, the meeting is followed by old business agenda items, and then new business discussions, reviews and approvals. Comments by the administrator, supervisors and township attorney are next on the agenda, followed by final public comments. Agendas are usually posted online within 24 hours of a scheduled meeting.
