Quincy Township election results

QUINCY TOWNSHIP – Voter turnout on May 20 for the following roles in Quincy government favored the Republican party, with plenty of landslide victories and contested roles along the way.

Auditor: Both 6-year and 4-year Republican and Democratic auditors were elected this primary election. On the Republican side, the 6-year auditor nomination went to Joshua G. Peters with 98.48 percent of the vote, while the 4- year auditor candidate, Matthew Toney, secured 99.75 percent. It should be noted that all votes for the Democrats were write-ins.

Tax Collector: Republican and Democrat tax collector candidates were both nominated this election, and similarly skewed to the GOP; while Republican nominee Debbie J. Gift secured 100 percent of the 443 votes cast for her, there were 18 total votes, all write-ins, for the Democrats.

Judge of Elections: All four Judge of Election seats were open for reelection. On the Democrat side, three of the four seats all received write-ins, with Judge of Election One receiving 11 votes and Judge of Election 4 receiving none. The Republican vote did not reflect this, with the nominees for Judge of Election 2 and 3 each receiving 100 percent of their vote (the nominees for Judge 1 and 4 were the only exceptions, as Judge 1 still received 99.51 percent of their vote while Judge 4 won all eight write-in votes.

Inspectors of Elections: Votes for Inspector of Elections were similar to the Judge of Elections votes. Republican nominees Debra K. Kahl and Roxane L. Cauffman won significant victories, with Kahl winning 98.1 percent of Inspector 1 and Cauffman winning 100 percent of Inspector 2. The remaining two Republican Inspector nominations were write-ins. On the Democratic side, Inspector 1 was secured by Alexandria Butler with 98.65 percent of the vote while Inspector 2 was secured by Julie Mentzer with 100 percent of her vote. Candidate Fran Britsch secured Inspector 3 with 100 percent, while Inspector 4 received no votes or nominations.

Supervisor: Quincy Township Supervisor was contested among the Republican nominees, as Alan Peck overtook Richard M. Wagaman with 72.53 percent of the vote. On the Democrat side, there were 25 write-in votes.

School Director: As part of the Waynesboro Area School District, voters were divided into three further, smaller districts to determine nominees for school director. The Democrats won the first small district with candidate Kimberly Miles winning 100 percent of the vote. Though contested between multiple candidates, the Republicans won the second and third small districts with Lindsay Weaver winning 50.46 percent of the vote and Shane Harkins winning 55.91 percent of the third Waynesboro seat.
