WAYNESBORO – The Quincy Community Ox-Roast Association Inc. hosted its 90th annual Ox-Roast Weekend from Friday, Aug. 29, through Monday, Sept. 1, along Route 997 north of Waynesboro. The event, a Labor Day tradition, featured food, entertainment and community activities to benefit Quincy Street Lights and Community Activities.
The weekend began Friday with the kitchen opening at 5 p.m. for soup and sandwiches. A 25-cent bingo game started at 7 p.m., accompanied by an antique tractor show from the G-R-I-D Tractor Group. Entertainment was provided by Uncle Blaine and the Riffraff, with shows at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m.
Saturday featured the 34th annual “Cruzzz Night” from 4 to 7:30 p.m., hosted by Appalachian Golden Classics. Shadow Rising, a classic rock band, performed two shows at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. The kitchen opened at 4 p.m. for soup and sandwiches, with 25-cent bingo running from 6 to 10 p.m.
Sunday’s highlight was the 19th annual “All Ford” car show from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. A magic show and peanut scramble entertained kids, while Guilford Station and Frank, Co. Penn offered bluegrass music at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. The kitchen opened at 11 a.m., with 25-cent bingo from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Monday concluded with a community yard sale and crafts from 7:30 to 10 a.m., followed by breakfast. A motorcycle cruise registration at 9:30 a.m. led to a $15 rental space and a ride starting at 11 a.m. The buffet ox-roast dinner began at 12 p.m., with 25-cent bingo from 1 to 5 p.m. Take Two, Russ & Donna, provided variety entertainment from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. or until food ran out.
Admission and parking were free throughout the event.
