CHAMBERSBURG – LIU12 Franklin County Literacy Council will host their seventh annual PuzzleMania fundraiser on Sunday, Sept. 21, from 1–4 p.m. PuzzleMania will be held at the Landis-McCleaf Marine Corps League at 450 Grant St. in Chambersburg. All proceeds will benefit adult education in Franklin County. Food and beverages will be available for purchase onsite.
FCLC provides free adult basic education and English language classes for learners aged 18 or older. Classes are often conducted by volunteer tutors trained by FCLC. “This year marks 40 years of serving our community,” said Angie Wilt, FCLC’s program coordinator. “For many of our neighbors, literacy or English proficiency is the missing piece to creating a better life for themselves, whether that’s through getting a new job or becoming a U.S. citizen. PuzzleMania supports our learners’ hard work in their studies.”
Players must be at least 18 years old to participate in PuzzleMania. Registration is $25 per player or $100 per team. Each player must be in a team of four. All teams compete to assemble identical jigsaw puzzles, and the first team to complete the puzzle wins. To heighten the stakes, teams may pay $10 to challenge another team and slow them down for five minutes. The challenged team may either accept the challenge or pay $10 to evade it.
“PuzzleMania is a fun way to introduce people to the need for adult education in our community while stoking some friendly competition,” says Wilt. “We hope to see you there. The challenge is on!” Participants may sign up for PuzzleMania at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/7th-annual-puzzle-mania-tickets-1279661364589?aff=ebdssbdestsearch.
