WAYNESBORO — Renfrew Museum and Park welcomed 25 participants across three sessions for a Punched Tin Ornament Workshop on Sept. 6. Held at 10 a.m., noon, and 2 p.m., the classes offered hands-on experience in the centuries-old art of tin smithing, led by instructor Katlin McCreery.
The first session was fully booked, while the third session, attended by nine participants, allowed for personalized guidance. Attendees explored the craft through a presentation on tin smithing, viewed tools and rare pieces from Renfrew’s collections, and created their own tin-plate ornaments using star, square, and diamond templates or custom designs.
“It was a chance to connect with a traditional craft and take home a unique ornament,” one participant said.
Due to strong interest, Renfrew plans to host another punched tin workshop before the holiday season.
