WAYNESBORO, Pa. — Waynesboro is marking the nation’s 250th birthday with a new display of community pride hanging above its downtown streets.
A series of “Boro 250” banners now lines the borough, celebrating the upcoming semiquincentennial and recognizing the collective effort of local organizers, businesses and volunteers who brought the project to life.
The initiative was led by Andy Smetzer, Greg Small and Larry Selmon, who spearheaded the creative vision and sponsorship efforts behind the banners. Borough maintenance crews installed the banners throughout downtown.
Local printer Chad Ely produced the banners, while Carrie Carbaugh of Mainstreet Waynesboro Inc. coordinated the financial aspects of the project.
Organizers expressed appreciation for the widespread community support that made the effort possible, including businesses and individuals who sponsored and purchased banners.
The display serves as an early visual tribute to the United States’ 250th anniversary in 2026, while also highlighting Waynesboro’s commitment to community engagement and local pride.
