WAYNESBORO, Pa. — A 9/11 Memorial Service is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 11, at 9:30 a.m. at Red Run Park, 12143 Buchanan Trail E., to honor the lives lost and recognize the courage displayed during the 2001 terrorist attacks.
The order of events begins with an arrival procession of emergency vehicles, followed by a welcome address from Pennsylvania State Rep. Chad Reichard (R-Franklin). Attendees will participate in the raising of the colors and the singing of the National Anthem.
Deacon Michael McGovern of St. Andrew the Apostle in Waynesboro will offer the invocation. Pennsylvania State Sen. Doug Mastriano (R-Franklin/Adams) is slated as the guest speaker.
Members of local emergency response agencies will lead a wreath-laying ceremony. Following the wreath laying, McGovern will lead a moment of silence. Reichard will deliver closing remarks to conclude the service.
The memorial event is made possible through joint support from numerous municipal, emergency, and community entities. Participating departments and organizations include:

The event program features a statement from Sandy Dahl, wife of United Flight 93 pilot Jason Dahl: “If we learn nothing else from this tragedy, we learn that life is short, and there is no time for hate.”
