As Pennsylvania students prepare to return to school for the 2025-2026 academic year, the Pennsylvania Sheriffs Association is urging parents to exercise caution when sharing back-to-school photos and information on social media.
The association advises parents to avoid posting identifiable details such as a child’s full name, school name or other personal information. Photos revealing school uniforms or specific locations should also be shared cautiously, as they could inadvertently expose children to risks.
“We can never be too safe when it comes to the safety of our children,” association officials said in a statement. “Sometimes, less information is best.”
The sheriffs’ reminder comes as social media remains a popular platform for parents to share back-to-school milestones. The association encourages families to prioritize safety while celebrating the new school year.
