FRANKLIN COUNTY – Primary elections will take place at a polling area near you on May 20. Polls will be open from 7 am to 8 pm.
This is a quick review of all the contests in the LocalNews1.org coverage area. As noted elsewhere, Pennsylvania has closed primaries, which allow voters affiliated with a political party to make their choices to compete against others parties in the November elections.
Although there are over 100,000 registered voters in Franklin County, there are only a few statewide or county positions on the ballot. These include elections for one judge of the superior court, one judge of the commonwealth court and one judge of the court of common pleas.
The vast majority of positions you can vote for are in boroughs, townships and school districts. The following table shows the positions up for election in boroughs and townships in our primary coverage area.

Franklin County has a wonderful website, FranklinVotes.org, which voters can use to see who is running in their local elections. Many candidates have provided links from this page to their biographical information.
LocalNews1.org’s primary coverage area also includes a small part of western Adams County. We were able to list those running for office in that area from Adams County records.

There is an old quote along the lines that one was never so wrong as to do nothing because they could do so little. Regardless your party affiliation, it is important to vote, but especially in elections for people that are so close to where you live.
