CHAMBERSBURG – Penn State Extension will offer two sessions of “Home Food Preservation: Fermented Pickles and Sauerkraut” on June 11 at Penn State Extension’s Franklin County office, 181 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg.
The first workshop will occur from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The second workshop is scheduled for 5-7 p.m. Both workshops will cover the same content, but a separate registration is required for each event.
Attendees will learn about:
- The basics of water bath and atmospheric steam canning for processing fermented products.
- The important role acid plays in fermentation.
- Using optional ingredients.
- Processing fermented pickles.
- Processing sauerkraut.
This course carries a registration fee of $15. The deadline to register is June 8.
