WAYNESBORO – Rainbow Gymnastics hosted champion gymnast Maggie Nichols on Saturday, May 10, for a special fundraising event to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. The event brought together young athletes, families and supporters for a day filled with clinics, prizes and inspiration, all while raising crucial funds for Alzheimer’s research and support.
Nichols, celebrated for her achievements with the U.S. National Team and in NCAA gymnastics, led a series of activities for participants who raised at least $250. The day began at noon with a private clinic for top fundraisers, followed by a VIP meet and greet, and a goal-setting session. Participants had the opportunity to bring an item for Nichols to autograph, and each fundraiser was allowed to bring one parent.
Throughout the afternoon, attendees rotated through activities including photo sessions, autograph signings and additional clinics with Nichols. The event also featured contests such as a handstand competition and awards for selfie winners, with medals presented to the top fundraisers. Notable winners included Aaliyah Callahan, who raised $1,720 and took home the gold medal, Emma Eckstine and Sophia Eckstine, who each raised $1,420 and earned silver medals.
The top 20 overall fundraisers enjoyed a second clinic with Nichols, while the top 10, along with one parent each, attended a private lunch with the gymnastics star. The event concluded with a question-and-answer session, where young gymnasts and their families engaged with Nichols about her journey, training and dedication to the sport.
The day celebrated athletic achievement and community spirit, as the gymnastics community united to support the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.
