GREENCASTLE – The Central Photo Company of Washington, D.C., upheld a cherished tradition at Greencastle’s Old Home Week, capturing a panoramic portrait on the square. James Ivey, a third-generation photographer, and his daughter, Madeleine Ivey, fourth generation, led the effort, continuing a legacy that began in 1902 with the first Old Boys’ Reunion.
Hundreds of men, women, children, and even a dog gathered for the iconic photo, one of the week’s hallmark events. James and Madeleine, with practiced ease, offered instructions and flashed smiles to keep the crowd engaged. James operated the camera, sweeping from left to right, taking three shots to ensure every face was captured.
Adding a playful twist, three boys posed on the photo’s left side, then darted to the right as the camera panned. When the final image is developed, the boys will appear on both ends, a nod to a mischievous tradition that delights attendees. The panoramic portrait remains a vibrant symbol of community spirit at Old Home Week.
