Mrs. Phyllis J. (Doyle) Bonebrake, 100, a resident of Chambersburg Nursing and Rehab Center, Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Sunday September 21, 2025, in the nursing home.
Born April 22, 1925 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late John and Lena (Fogle) Doyle.
She and her husband, the late John E. Bonebrake, Sr., were married on June 8, 1942 in St. Paul’s United Brethren Church, Hagerstown, MD. Mr. Bonebrake died on October 12, 2000.
In her early life, Mrs. Bonebrake worked at the Waynesboro Shoe Factory and the Waynesboro Knitting Mill. She was last employed as an assembly line worker at Corning Glass, Greencastle, PA.
She was a member of the Waynesboro Bible Church. Mrs. Bonebrake was an avid bowler for over 50 years and enjoyed traveling on bowling trips. She also enjoyed working on puzzles, including having them framed when finished and living with her daughter and son-in-law for many years.
She is survived by three children, J. Darlene Maloy of Hagerstown, Nancy L. Benshoff and her husband, Roger Benshoff, Sr. of Quincy, PA and Blaine G. Bonebrake and his wife, Brenda Bonebrake of Mt. Airy, GA; her daughter-in-law, Deb Bonebrake of Waynesboro; 5 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; her siblings, Pauline Buhrman of West Virginia and Ed Doyle of Greencastle, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two children, John E. Bonebrake, Jr. and Karen S. Freeman; three grandsons, Kenneth Benshoff, Donnie Miller and Darrell Miller; one great-granddaughter, Holly Smith; and her siblings, Walter Doyle, John Doyle, Catherine Cook, Marie Toms and Betty Monn.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday September 30, 2025 in the Waynesboro Bible Church, 8216 Stottlemyer Road, Waynesboro with Pastor Zack Savitski and Pastor Darell Gentry officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday evening, September 29th, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro and one hour prior to the services, Tuesday morning, in the church.
