Paul Downin,97, passed away February 9, 2025, at Shippensburg Health Care Center. He was born September 17, 1927, in Waynesboro, the son of late Howard and Marie Patterson Downin. After high school Paul entered in the US Army and served during the Korean War. He was employed as a mechanic until retirement. Paul liked his cats, playing ping pong, college football, and Nascar as well as spending time with his family. He was a member of the Forty and Eight veterans club, VFW, Marine Corps, American Legion, and AmVets. Paul is survived by; his wife, Bonnie Thomas Downin; children: Judy Fossett of Warwick, MD, Carol O’Donnell (Bill) of Spring Run, PA, Paul R. Downin (Joy Russell) of Shippensburg, PA; grandchildren: Tony Fleegal (Ginny) of Greencastle, PA, Shawnee Knoll (Tommy) of Newark, DE, Katrina, Paul, Kelley, Clair; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters: Alice Cramer of Waynesboro, and Mary Smith of Quincy Village; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 34 years, Joyce Downin; granddaughter, Amanda; two sisters; and one brother. Graveside services will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Parklawns Memorial Garden with Military Honors by the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post #1599.
